International street skateboarding league final to feature a unique four-team showdown, 16 elite skaters, and a $100,000 prize

São Paulo, October 2026 — Street League Skateboarding (SLS) is ushering in a new era of competitive skateboarding with the SLS Nations Cup, a unique team-based competition format that will bring together some of the world's top skaters during the SLS Super Crown 2026. The event takes place on December 12 and 13 at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo.

For the first time in SLS history, skaters will move beyond individual competition to form teams representing their home countries and regions. In this inaugural edition, Brazil, USA, Japan, and "World" will vie for the title and a $100,000 prize awarded to the winning team.

The competition features four teams of four skaters each, combining established champions, rising stars, and athletes from different generations of international skateboarding. Each team is required to include at least one female skater, reinforcing SLS's commitment to the growth and recognition of women's skateboarding on a global scale.

The event brings together skateboarders from diverse styles, generations, and backgrounds, pitting some of the sport's biggest names against one another in a competition where individual results directly impact the entire team's performance.

Competition Format

Scheduled for Saturday, December 12, the SLS Nations Cup was created to introduce a fresh dynamic to high-level competition. In the qualifying phase, the four members of each team compete across four rounds. The first three are "Trick Rounds," where each skater has three attempts to land tricks on a designated obstacle. Skaters from each team can choose which obstacles to compete on, with one skater from each team competing at each specific obstacle.

The fourth round is the "Line Round," where each competitor has two 45-second attempts to perform a complete run, combining creativity, consistency, and the ability to execute under pressure.

For the standings, each team's score is calculated by summing the two highest men's scores and the highest women's score. After the four rounds, the two teams with the highest scores advance to the grand final.

In the final, the four skaters from each team get three additional trick attempts and can choose any obstacle. At this stage, team strategy becomes even more critical: to build a high score, each member needs to land at least one decisive trick.

The final result is determined by the highest individual trick score achieved by each of the four skaters. Additionally, any trick that reaches the "9 Club" level in the final earns the team an extra bonus point.

The team with the highest total score will be crowned the inaugural SLS Nations Cup champion and receive a $100,000 prize.

More than just a competition

The creation of the Nations Cup expands on the SLS mission to constantly innovate the format of skateboarding competitions and keeps pace with the sport's global growth. Skateboarding has taken on diverse identities around the world, shaped by the cultures, cities, and communities that have developed their own unique styles, influences, and icons. The Nations Cup places this diversity at the heart of the competition by bringing together skaters from Brazil, the United States, Japan, and the rest of the world on a single stage.

“The SLS Nations Cup ushers in a new era of team-based skateboarding competitions. Bringing together some of the world’s best skateboarders to represent their countries and compete for a collective goal creates a unique dynamic for both athletes and fans. We are thrilled to present this format in São Paulo and make history with the inaugural edition of the Nations Cup,” said Frank Lamicella, CEO of Thrill Sports Co.

On December 12, during the SLS Super Crown 2026, stars accustomed to individual competition will unite behind a common goal. Every trick could determine a team's fate and help write the name of the first-ever SLS Nations Cup champion.

About SLS

Street League Skateboarding (SLS)—the premier international street skateboarding league founded by professional skater Rob Dyrdek in 2010—is the home of professional street skateboarding, the stage where the discipline's top skaters gather to vie for the international title. As pioneers of street skateboarding competition, the league boasts the sport's largest and most engaged global community. From international stops to national qualifiers, the league connects the world through skateboarding, both on and off the course. In 2026, the SLS Championship Tour will feature two competition formats: street events—such as the "Spot Takeover" held last August in Rio de Janeiro—and arena events, known as "Arena Majors" (the traditional SLS format featuring runs and single-trick contests), taking place in São Paulo. The SLS Super Crown, the final stop and grand finale of the International Street Skateboarding League, crowns the world champions. This event will be held in Brazil for the fifth consecutive year.
