(Las Vegas, NV – May 25, 2024) Street League Skateboarding hosted another APEX best-trick event in Las Vegas, marking the final Championship Tour stop before the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. This condensed model features legendary skate spots, with the last event being a replica of the Los Angeles High School steps and this one being the Los Angeles Public Library. This skate spot is now famously banned, providing a unique opportunity for the new generation of skaters to experience it. The 8 men and 6 women skaters brought their best tricks to the winner-takes-all competition, aiming to earn crucial points for the Super Crown World Championship qualification in São Paulo, Brazil, on December 14-15.

In the Men’s final, American Nyjah Huston delivered a dominating performance with scores of 8.6, 9.1, and 9.4, securing an overall score of 27.1. This earned him the 1st place trophy and marked his first win in the Street League Competitions since Lake Havasu in 2021. Huston’s energy and overall momentum were palpable as he maintained the top spot throughout the competition. His next stop will be the Olympics in which this momentum will be key. Coming in second was American Chris Joslin with an impressive overall score 25.6, including a Nine Club on his final trick. Cheering him on in the crowd was Joslin's family, his kids celebrating with him on the podium after being handed his trophy.Placing third was American Louie Lopez who scored an 8.7 (24.2 overall) on his second-to-last trick, stealing the spot on the podium from Brazil’s Lucas Rabelo who finished with an overall score of 23.5.

Said Huston: “I think Apex is sick, this is my first time being able to skate it [and] will definitely be coming to some more. It’s always good to get a win, helps out with the confidence. But it really comes down to feeling good on the board and especially lately, been skating a lot of contests so I’ve been feeling healthier and healthier [leading into the Olympics]. I’ve always dreamed about getting that seventh title. We’re gonna keep it rolling as long as possible.”

In the Women’s final, Japan’s Nanaka Fujisawa took home the first place trophy in her first ever SLS appearance. Fujisawa dazzled the crowd with her second trick, landing an 8.5 score – the highest score of the day in the women’s competition. Needing one more trick and only a 3.8 to take first place, Fujisawa sealed the deal with a 4.7, giving her a total score of 17.7. Japan’s Aoi Uemura, hungry for a spot on the podium after her last SLS appearance in San Diego, led strongly with scores of 5.0, 6.0, and 5.8, placing her comfortably in the lead until Fujisawa’s final trick. Rounding out the podium is American Shiloh Catorimaking her second SLS appearance after her debut at the inaugural APEX event. The 15-year-old Catori finished with a solid overall score of 13.8, continuing to establish herself in the world of SLS.

Said Fujisawa: “I’m very happy I’m here at this competition and I’m even more happy I won. I still can’t believe I’m here – it doesn’t feel real.”

SLS continues the season from the UFC Apex once more on August 31 which can be streamed live and free on Rumble Sports at https://rumble.com/sls.
