STREET LEAGUE SKATEBOARDING SET FOR SYDNEY RETURN OCT. 12 & 13

SLS and Destination New South Wales Renew Partnership to Bring World’s Top Skateboarding Series Back to Ken Rosewall Arena

Two Day Skating Extravaganza Presented by Boost Mobile; Tickets Available at streetleague.com.

(Sydney, NSW Sunday, April 21) Street League Skateboarding (SLS), the world’s premier professional skateboarding series, is set to make its highly-anticipated return to Sydney, Australia, after a massive debut in October of 2023. Partnering with Destination New South Wales for a second time, the 2024 edition promises fans even more excitement and unforgettable moments. With an enhanced on-site experience and a lineup that includes Olympians, reigning champions, and emerging talents, SLS Sydney is once again poised to showcase street skateboarding's unique appeal to fans of all ages.

Sydney’s Ken Rosewall Arena at Sydney Olympic Park will host two days of action-packed competition, first on Saturday, 12 October with the SLS Knockout Rounds followed by the third Arena stop of the 2024 SLS Championship Tour on Sunday, 13 October, both presented by Boost Mobile. More than 28 SLS Pros will vie for valuable points toward SLS Super Crown World Championship qualification on a purpose-built, technically demanding course created by California Skateparks, known for over a decade for their custom Street League designs

Following the excitement of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, SLS Sydney will be the first major arena event and first appearance back for many of the skaters who will have just competed in Paris. As the dust settles from the Olympics, fans can catch a firsthand glimpse of their favorite skaters fresh off the global stage, showcasing their skills at Sydney's Olympic Park — a full-circle moment, bringing elite skateboarding back to the iconic grounds of the Sydney Olympics, emphasizing the sport's continued growth, evolution and recognition.

Anticipation is mounting as top skaters gear up for the showdown in October, with Australian talent taking center stage alongside global icons. Representing the home turf, Australia's own Chloe Covell (Tweed Heads, NSW) is coming off a massive victory at SLS Paris in February. At just 14 years old, Covell has already made waves as a skate prodigy, captivating audiences with her technical ability and already vast collection of tricks. Her meteoric rise mirrors the growing prominence of women's sports globally and she is poised to be one of the world’s breakout stars at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 this summer.

“I can’t wait for SLS to return to Sydney in October,” said SLS pro and New South Wales native Chloe Covell. “Having competed last year and seen the energy of the fans inside (Ken Rosewall Arena), I know this year is going to be even more insane. Sydney has really grown a big skateboarding scene and its super cool to see SLS comeback to build that even more.”

Not to be outshined is 2023 SLS Women’s Super Crown Champion and 2020 Olympic Silver medalist Rayssa Leal (Brazil). Having come second to Covell at last year’s SLS Sydney event, she’ll no doubt want to silence the home crowd this time around and add to her already impressive roster of first place finishes.

Among the contenders on the men’s side is Nyjah Huston, hailing from Southern California, USA, and renowned as the winningest skater in SLS history. Huston, coming off three third place finishes in his last four SLS competitions, is hungry for gold in Sydney and show the field he is again the favorite for a record 7th SLS Super Crown World Championship.

Additionally, Melbourne's own Shane O'Neill, an SLS Pro and 2016 Super Crown world champion, adds further excitement to the mix as he vies for victory. With experience spanning the Olympics and X Games, O'Neill brings a wealth of skill and determination to the competition, ensuring a showcase of talent for the fans of Sydney.
